  • Our terminals around Valenciennes link the industrial region of western France with the seaports of Antwerp and Rotterdam. What do you need to transport? We have experience of moving just about everything in containers. Close contact with customers has enabled our specialists to ‘think ahead’. Scheduled departures, and our way of solving problems, have convinced many companies of the advantages of transport to and from the seaports by inland waterway, even where time is a critical factor. Our terminal in Prouvy is in a security zone. As an enterprise of Contargo, we have access to a reliable network of experienced partners and offer our customers solutions which are exactly tailored to their needs. Mission statement CONTARGO sees itself as one of the leading providers of trimodal container hinterland services, carrying out the transport and service orders of its customers with high quality standards and high safety awareness, fast and with high reliability, with an excellent price performance ratio, in its own name. A strong customer orientation, know-how integrating the whole of the transport chain, and highly-motivated, dedicated employees support this service pledge day by day. In addition, membership of the Rhenus Group gives stability and security for customers and employees. CONTARGO was founded with the background idea of bundling together the many and various services associated with container transport, and establishing this concept on the market. As a neutral service provider, CONTARGO organises and carries out trimodal container-transports (Port-to-door/Door-to-port) between the seaports of Western Europe and the European hinterland. CONTARGO offers a comprehensive range of services from one hand, and is the contact partner for the whole transport chain. With a closely-meshed network consisting of its own terminals and transport lines, CONTARGO combines the inter-system advantages of the three transport modes: inland waterway, rail and road, in order to optimise transport times and costs. Very short transfer times, fixed routes and frequent scheduled departures form the basis for fast, reliable, efficient container transports. Due to its trimodal use of the transport modes of inland barge, rail and truck and its extensive transport and handling capacities, CONTARGO is able to react extremely flexibly to customers’ widely differing needs regarding journey time and capacity requirements. CONTARGO’s customers are all the players along the intermodal transport chain who are concerned with container traffic. They are sea carriers and international forwarders for whom CONTARGO takes on the organisation and realisation of complex container transports in the European hinterland. They are also shippers from industry, who entrust the collection and delivery of containers to CONTARGO.
